Kratom extract tablets have gone from a niche format to the default way a lot of people buy kratom. The reasons are practical: a tablet is a fixed, labeled dose you can split, it doesn't taste like leaf, and it fits in a pocket. But "extract tablet" covers a wide range of products, from a pressed powder puck to a standardized full-spectrum extract with a published lab report. This guide walks through the whole category so you can tell the difference.
What kratom extract tablets actually are
Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a tree in the coffee family native to Southeast Asia. Its leaves contain dozens of alkaloids; the most abundant is mitragynine. A kratom extract is made by pulling those alkaloids out of the raw leaf, usually with water, ethanol, or a combination, and concentrating the result. An extract tablet takes that concentrate, blends it with a small amount of binder and flavor, and presses it under tonnage into a solid tablet.
The important part is standardization. A good extract tablet is formulated to a specific mitragynine content per tablet (Tempo is 20 mg mitragynine within a 250 mg kratom alkaloid blend per tablet), and every lot is tested to confirm that number. That's a meaningful difference from powder, where the mitragynine in a "3 g scoop" can vary from under 20 mg to more than 50 mg depending on the crop, the strain name on the bag, and how the powder settled in transit.

How a kratom extract tablet is made
- Sourcing and testing raw leaf. Dried leaf or crude extract is sourced and tested for identity, alkaloid content and contaminants before anything is formulated.
- Extraction. The leaf is extracted to concentrate alkaloids. "Full-spectrum" means the process keeps the leaf's broader alkaloid profile rather than isolating a single compound. See full-spectrum vs isolate for the difference.
- Standardization. The extract is assayed by HPLC and blended so each finished tablet delivers a fixed mitragynine dose.
- Blending. Extract is mixed with excipients, typically microcrystalline cellulose, a natural flavor system, a sweetener, and a flow agent. Dialed's full list is on the label and FAQ.
- Compression. The blend is pressed in a rotary tablet press. Cross-scoring is set by the tooling; Tempo tablets snap cleanly into halves or quarters.
- Finished-product testing. A sample from every lot goes to an independent ISO/IEC 17025 lab for potency, 7-OH, heavy metals, microbials, pesticides and residual solvents. Results are published at /coas.
- Packaging. Tablets are sealed into foil sachets (Tempo 1ct, net wt 1.0 g) or blister cards (Tempo 4ct, net wt 4.0 g) with lot number, expiry, warnings and the 21+ mark.

Dosing: how to think about milligrams
With tablets, dose is expressed in milligrams of mitragynine, not grams of leaf. That's a better unit, but it's unfamiliar if you came from powder. A rough translation: typical commercial leaf runs 1–1.5% mitragynine, so a 2 g serving of powder is roughly 20–30 mg of mitragynine. A single Tempo tablet (20 mg mitragynine plus 30 mg corydalis extract, of the 250 mg blend) lands in that moderate range; half a tablet is a light serving.
- First time: half a tablet on an empty-ish stomach. Wait 30–45 minutes before deciding anything.
- Established: one tablet. Most people don't need more, and more isn't better.
- Spacing: at least 6 hours between servings; don't stack.

The 2026 7-OH rule and why it matters for tablets
On August 5, 2026 the DEA's temporary order placing 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) in Schedule I took effect. The order covers products where 7-OH exceeds 0.050% by dry weight or 1.00 mg per unit, for a two-year period. Natural kratom leaf and extracts under that threshold remain federally legal. Products that were marketed as "7-OH tablets" are, in most cases, no longer lawful to sell.
This reshaped the tablet category. Many of the tablets sold in 2024–2025 were 7-OH isolates, not kratom extracts. Now the category is re-centering on compliant full-spectrum extracts and blended formulas. Where 13-OH corydalis comes in
The single most common request from people leaving 7-OH products is "something that feels fuller than plain leaf without going over the line." Kratom-only tablets can hit a ceiling where more mitragynine adds harshness (queasiness, edge) faster than it adds anything good.
13-OH is a compound derived from the rhizome of Corydalis yanhusuo, a plant in the poppy family that is not related to kratom and is not a scheduled substance. Corydalis Labs, which supplies Dialed's extract, separates 13-OH from tetrahydropalmatine (THP) by HPLC and recommends 25–40 mg per serving in a blend. Lab testing: what a real COA includes
If a kratom tablet doesn't have a lot-specific, third-party certificate of analysis, treat the label as a guess. A complete COA for an extract tablet should show:
- Mitragynine in mg per tablet, matched to the label claim
- 7-hydroxymitragynine in mg per tablet and/or % dry weight, below the federal threshold
- Heavy metals: lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury
- Microbials: total plate count, yeast and mold, E. coli, Salmonella, S. aureus
- Pesticides and residual solvents (relevant to any ethanol-extracted product)
- Lab name, accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025), method, sample ID, and date

Legality in 2026
Kratom is legal at the federal level below the 7-OH threshold. Six states ban it outright (Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin) and several counties and cities have local bans, including Sarasota County in Florida. A growing number of states have passed a Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) that sets age minimums, labeling rules and contaminant limits. Florida's 2023 law requires purchasers to be 21+.
